Join Us for an Unforgettable Jazz Night!
Mark your calendars for Friday, 29 November, at Alliance Française Cape Town (155 Loop Street) as we celebrate the incredible talent of trombonist Steven Sokuyeka and his sensational sextet!
Steven’s journey in music began under the mentorship of his father, Roy Sokuyeka, with the trumpet. He then transitioned to trombone, joining Cup’s Nkanuka’s big band as the youngest member, sharing the stage with local legends like Ezra Ngcukana, Fitzroy Ngcukana, and Tete Mbambisa. Since then, he’s collaborated with these icons in various ensembles, soaking up their wisdom and musicality.
Now, Steven is leading his own sextet, honoring his musical influences and teachers. Get ready to be captivated by his artistry alongside a stellar lineup featuring Nickolas Dlakavu on drums, Peter Ndlala on bass, George Werner on piano, Buddy Wells on tenor saxophone, and his long-time friend Mpumelelo Mnyamana on alto saxophone.
Don’t miss this chance to experience a night of soulful jazz and remarkable talent!
