1995 – 2025: Thirty Years after the First Springboks’ World Cup Victory Was the Promise Fulfilled?
On 24 June 1995, the Springboks lifted their first Rugby World Cup trophy at Ellis Park  a powerful moment of national pride and reconciliation, immortalised by the image of Nelson Mandela in a green jersey.

Three decades and four titles later, what has become of that promise?

Join us for a special roundtable discussion, moderated by Winny Claret, to explore the legacy of that iconic victory, not just in sporting terms, but in its broader social and political significance. What has changed? What hasn’t? And what does rugby still represent in today’s South Africa?

🎤 Roundtable Moderator: Winnie Claret
