Upcoming screening: South African NPC Waves for change featured in XXI: the sport of solutions

On 15 October 2025, Alliance Française du Cap and the Consulat Général de France au Cap will partner with Waves for Change, a Cape Town-based not-for-profit company, to hold a special screening of XXI, the Sport of Solutions (XXI – le sport des solutions).

This film, screened to heads of state at the start of the Paris Olympics last year, is a powerful documentary by David Blough that explores how sport can be a catalyst for social change.

The screening at Alliance Française in October will spotlight the Waves for change segment of this film, providing a moving portrayal of surf therapy in South Africa and its impact on youth mental well-being. Following the screening, Africa Melane (of Cape Talk) will be facilitating a conversation with the two Waves for Change coaches featured in the film: Bulelani (Buja) and Sinovuyo, along with Surf Therapy Site Manager Mzukisi (Tony).
