🎷Rhythms of a Forgotten Jazz🎷

As part of the HEAT Winter Arts Festival 2026, the Alliance Française du Cap presents Rhythms of a Forgotten Jazz, an evening of storytelling, music and archival exploration centred on the legacy of legendary South African pianist Tete Mbambisa.

Responding to the idea of “Ctrl + Z”, the performance considers how history cannot be undone, but how erasure can be interrupted. Through live music, testimony and archival projections, South African jazz is explored as a living archive — creating space for remembrance, attentive listening and dialogue between generations.
