First Thursdays returns to Alliance Française du Cap with Where the Water Runs Deep, an exhibition by South African-British artist Milli McGregor, presented as part of the Cape Town art and cultural programme.
Join us on Thursday, 1 October 2026 at 18:00 for the opening evening — an opportunity to experience Milli’s work while connecting with artists, creatives and the wider cultural community.
About the exhibition
Where the Water Runs Deep explores themes of connection, memory, nature and the layers beneath what we see on the surface.
The exhibition invites visitors to slow down, look closer and engage with the stories and ideas held within the work.
The exhibition will remain on view at Alliance Française du Cap throughout October.
About the artist
Milli McGregor is a multidisciplinary artist, educator and creative practitioner with more than 20 years of experience across the creative industries.
Her artistic practice spans sculpture, ceramics, illustration and animation, alongside exhibition curation, workshops and collaborative projects. She has exhibited and worked across the UK, USA and South Africa, and has developed projects ranging from independent exhibitions to community-based and educational art programmes.
Her recent work includes exhibitions in Cape Town and the UK, as well as collaborative and public-art projects. In 2024, she was shortlisted to design a 5-metre memorial sculpture and has also curated exhibitions in Winchester and at Winchester Cathedral.
